Green Iowa AmeriCorps began serving Black Hawk and Linn counties with site offices in Cedar Falls and Cedar Rapids in January 2009. With an extremely successful first year, we opened two additional sites in Decorah (Winneshiek County) and Dubuque (Dubuque County). A new site in Des Moines (Polk County) followed in 2013. In 2016 we started a site in Iowa City! Our two newest sites started in 2018, are Milford and Davenport! With eight site locations, Green Iowa AmeriCorps' services reach thousands of households across Iowa!

Green Iowa AmeriCorps is excited about our partnership with The Greater Des Moines Area Habitat for Humanity. Green Iowa will be partnering with Habitat for Humanity and their Rock The Block neighborhood revitilization program. The team will work closely with Rock the Block in targeted neighborhoods throughout Polk, Dallas, and Jasper County. The group looks forward to getting out into the community to help Des Moines residents and beyond make their homes more energy efficient, create a more comfortable living environment, reduce utility bills, and work towards a more sustainable planet.
When the group is not assessing and weatherizing homes or working with Rock the Block, they look forward to organizing education and outreach events in schools, community centers, and businesses within the city to educate citizens on environmental issues and living a sustainable lifestyle.
